Meet the Early Childhood Development (ECD) Graduates 2019

The ECD Bursaries Programme graduates celebrated their achievements on Monday the 18th of November 2019.

Bitou 10 Foundation has 8 new ECD practitioners who have completed the 18-month course - NQF Level 5 Early Childhood Development.

The Higher Certificate NQF Level 5, is designed to guide more experienced practitioners in professional ECD practice. This qualification helps practitioners develop, uplift and empower communities, and build the capacity of communities through Early Childhood Development.

ECD Graduates feat 2The aim of this qualification is to further develop the essential ECD skills that practitioners need to implement in order to grow a successful professional ECD practice. Relevant government policies and regulations at provincial level are also discussed and debated.

The NQF Level 5 course builds on the practitioners’ existing knowledge of child growth and development and introduces practitioners to different theoretical teaching and learning philosophies and practices.

Facilitator, Susan Le Roux resides in Plett and is employed by the Teachers Learning Centre to train Level 4 & 5 ECD teachers.  She has had many years of experience in ECD, as the Head of Department Pre-primary, former principal of a pre-school and a registered ECD assessor.

“I enjoyed lecturing the current level 5 students because many are already employed in Bitou pre-schools and therefore I could give them loads of practical training.” Said Susan.

A big thank you to the programme funders: Vesco Plastics (Pty) Ltd, Gail Ractliffe and the St. Thomas Methodist Church.
